Why Cpanel redirects are good for affiliate marketing

Okay, since I’m ranked number one for Internet Marketing Technical Coach,

I’ll be starting a few series of help posts to guide you along in the technical areas of Internet Marketing.
While I may be faltering in the business strategies as compared to Stuart, but I’m definately stronger in terms of the technical areas.

Coming back to topic proper, I’ll sharing on how to you cloak your affiliate ID with the Cpanel redirects.
When I first began Internet Marketing, I used to use tiny url, but people are not comfortable with links they don’t understand, and tinyurl.com got more and more famous as being used for affiliate marketing, thus, people started to shun tiny url links.

Of course, there are many more URL cloacking methods, but I’ll just use Cpanel redirects today, if you’ll refer to the screenshot below:

url_redirect.PNG

Therefore, next time, I just need to ask my leads to go to www.risingimstar.com/se and they’ll be re-redirected to my affiliate link for SEOelite.

Isn’t that cool? Hope this helps a little bit.

Cheers,
Ming Chern

It’s so sad that you guys have to think of a way to hide the links to confuse people.

I agree with you about the tinyurl.

I associate it with affiliate links and I don’t click on them.

However, they can be good tools to hide your affiliate id which others can just change to theirs and we will lose sales… :) especially in ebooks filled with affiliate links

Thanks for this great hint, … :)

    haha uzyn,

i’m sure you know redirects are tools that can work both ways.

In most cases, ppl do redirects so as to shorten the url links.

In the area of internet marketing, clickbank affiliate ids are long and literally cannot be remembered.

tell me, which is better to rememember?
    htttp://tofumonkey.autopilot.hop.clickbank.net

    OR

    http://risingimstar.com/auto

Or how about this? Stuart always have those teleinterviews that is at http://www.internetmarketingsingapore.com/The-News/Webinar/Jay-Conrad-Levinson-Interview/

Would you be asking someone to remember this link?
I don’t think so, you would ask them to go to InternetMarketingSingapore.com/jay

It’s sad that you didn’t realise this point. but hey, we start from somewhere anyway. haha…

    Hi Ming Chern,

With this method, does the web browser (customer side) shows the

    htttp://tofumonkey.autopilot.hop.clickbank.net

    or

    http://risingimstar.com/auto ?

I am using the php redirect scripts, but my affilate id still appear at the browser status bar.

    Regards

    Ken

  7. The Rising IM star Says:

    Hi Ken,

The customer side would show RisingIMStar.com/auto on the status bar.

Though, when it’s being redirected, the affiliate id would still show the affiliate link in the url bar, though that would be good enough. :)

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Ming

  8. Ken Says:

    Hi Ming,

    Thanks for the advise.

I have seen some affilates marketer able to mask away the affilate URL even after it is redirected.

But during the loading, I can see the affiliate link (split seconds very fast) at the left lower corner status bar..then is it disappear.

At the end only, for example, the “RisingIMStar.com/auto” is display on top status bar :) . Look like is it from your own server.

I got some information in doing this, but I am not sure it will work. Is about rewriting the PHP code and teh .htaccess file. I wil try it out this week and see.

Hope to learn more from you :)

    Regards
    Ken
