Many a times, while I’m coaching students from all walks in life, I’ve come across people who simply want to focus on the outcome and forget about the entire process.
While the outcome is very important, but the preparation and the journey is equally important as well.
One of which is the Market Research segment of the entire Internet Marketing Journey.
Like what the word says, it’s Internet Marketing, not Internet Technology, not Internet Scam… It’s the Marketing part that is of concern here.
Therefore, market research plays a huge part here.
I’ve seen too many people go into a niche area based on gut feel, based on instincts, only to fail and then blame on everyone and everything except themselves.
Well, this shouldn’t be the case. To start things off, we need to understand the concept of Supply and Demand.
We cannot go into a niche where there’s isn’t any demand or the competition(supply) is too much!
Which is why Internet Marketing is a bad niche to go in. If you type in, ‘Internet Marketing’ into Google, you’ll get about 400 million results and you get about 100,000 searches per month from DigitalPoint Suggestion Tools with the same keyword. So in actual fact, with every one person searching, there’s about 4000 supply.
Is this a good niche to go in? Probably not, unless you know what you are up against and apply some creative techniques to your marketing.
So ladies and gentlemen, remember to do your market research well!
Keywords are important, so is your understanding of the market that you want to penetrate!
More later.
Cheers,
