Information Overload, What next?
Is this familiar to you?
You spent time reading and reading and buying and buying ebooks, ecourses, video tapes, MP3 in all aspects of Internet Marketing.
You’ve spent thousands and thousands of dollars purchasing all the products, resources. At first, the fire is strong, voracious learning takes place and you’ve burnt the midnight oil to digest tons of information in adsense, affililiate marketing, product creation and so on…
But what happens after 3-6 months? Chances are you’ve made little or no money at all and then you say, Internet Marketing is a scam and you give up, goes back to your lives and cry yourself to sleep.
Well, if this is familiar, yes, you’ve suffered from information overload. You see, I was helping out one of my IMA graduate. After completion of the course, he wasn’t getting very far in IM. He sounded desperate as $3000 wasn’t a small amount for him. Well… after some talk with him, realized that he has fallen into the trap of buying too much products and not knowing what to do with the information on hand.
I remember when I first started IM, I bought tons of products and wanted to do everything, i mean EVERYTHING. 1 month in Adsense, 1 month in Affiliate Marketing and another month in product creation, with bonus time thrown into membership sites, etc… Yes, everything.
I ended up only making a max of usd2000 for a total of 3 months. It’s really nothing fantastic.
Thinking back, the only reason why I was lucky enough to making usd3000 in the first few months is because I was slightly ‘niche’. I provided my expertise: technical help. I helped people set up their hosting account, autoresponders + explained some simple IM concepts.
This was the only reason why I managed to barely survive.
Stuart, Perry and I was discussing about this. Then over dinner, I shared with Perry on what’s earning my keep nowadays and how I survived previously. It was a really good chat as I went down memory lane and I related to the incident on my sharing with the IMA graduate.
So ladies and gentlemen, I believe the majority of us are facing this rite now. So what do we do about it? The answer is simple, yet hard to follow.
1) Understand the 3 main monetization paths: Adsense, Affiliate Marketing and Product Creation.
2) Pick ONE monetization path
3) MOST IMPORTANT: Stick to it.
Let me share with you why. In IM, there are plenty of distractions to pull you away from what’s important. When you are doing adsense, you hear stories on how someone is making usd$10,000 per month in affiliate marketing. You think, wow, affiliate marketing is better, then you hop over to affiliate marketing. You then spent another month of so, learning the ropes of affiliate marketing, slowly building your list. Then comes along someone else, who just launched their own product and earned usd$100,000 in 24 hours. Again, you waivered and switch to product creation. You struggled for another month or so, and heard about another person who have diligently build sites for adsense and is now earning usd10,000 per month also. You kicked yourself in the butt and switched back to Adsense, and the cycle continues…
Well… Is this familiar? I hope now, but this was what happened to me man… Hahahha… surprising? Maybe. Luckily, I saved myself with a few good partners/mastermind groups (after failing in 3 previous). I embarked on a brand new path in my own IM journey as well as training IM with Stuart.
So what’s the reason of me telling you all these information? It’s to highlight to you the dangers of IM as well as the perks of it. Stay true and focused to yourself and concentrate on what you do best and outsource the rest.
Hope this little rant helps.
Love,
Ming Chern.
P.S. Sorry I didn’t blog for a loooooooooong time, my apologies. I was taking a well-deserved break going to phuket & bangkok, meeting up with old friends and such. Now that I’m back, IM team of AKLTG are currently doing up great IM products to address this issue. Stay tuned for our launch ya?

Ming Chern,
What you wrote is true man…..I am now super overloaded…not with money but with informations.
And got so many choices to make money from internet marketing till I lost focus.
It is hard to stay focus especially with all the emails from other marketers saying they can promise to make
5 figures passsive income in a short time.
I am now halfway thru creating a product with a partner. Will arrange a day to meet you up to get some more advise on some issues.
Cheers to all & wish everyone success in 2008
