The Conclusion Of IMA 2007

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Yesterday was the last advance workshop for Internet Marketing Academy, which concludes everything for the year.
Looking back at all the batches and how we’ve grown, it’s a great thing to be coaching a great bunch of people.

We’ve seen people transform not just in the IM arena, but also from the mindset perspective.
As a firm believer of mindset, modeling and the power of NLP, I believe in building the foundation inwards,
before moving on to the hard skills, which is the technical skills, design, copywriting, etc…

You see, if we are positive and always looking ahead, during tough times, we will automatically look for solutions,
instead of dwelling upon what went wrong and the what-ifs. On several occasion, when times were hard,
and Stuart, Aloysius and I are looking at a problem, I would become problem-focused and get reprimanded for it.
Hahahaa… So you see, I’m only human. But luckily, that happens once in a blue blue moon. :p

Of course, in order to cultivate a good habit to constantly looking for solutions, we need to jump start our brains.
Luckily, AKLTG also offers a great course in which many people swear by it, it’s called the Patterns Of Excellence.
Throughout a few days, one will go through an empowering transformation, if he allows it.

Wow, there’s so much to say in my mind right now, that I just don’t know how to put it down into words.
Having gone through so many things and with so much more to experience next year, I can only describe it in one word:
ORGASMIC! hahaha… :)

Stay tuned guys, while I gather my thoughts and pen it down again. :)

One Hell Of A Sunday…

Ever since tons and tons of people commented on the weight that I’ve put on, after enduring all the constructive criticism and an overwhelming desire to become slim and healthy, I’ve joined my wife (breadfairy)’s cardio stretch class.

What’s a cardio stretch? It’s like aerobics (1 hour) and stretching exercises(30mins). Yesterday was my 2nd lesson and when I woke up today, my arse and my entire legs seems to be made of lead.

Maybe this time it will work…

Monday, November 19th, 2007

I remember a scene from The Simpsons where Homer was stealing cable from the nearby cable post. To cut the long story short, Homer learned the lesson of not stealing and he decided to cut the cables away.

As of all things Homer, he always manage to screw things up and to make a complete arse out of himself. There were 3 cable on the post. 2 live wires and only one is the correct cable. Homer chooses the left most cable which is a live wire. He gets himself electrocuted and suffers immense pain. He rests for 3 seconds and think, hmmm, maybe this time it will work and cut the same cable again. As predicted, he gets electrocuted again.

Not giving up, being the super persistent Homer, he persists on. But over and over again, he picks the same cable hoping that it will work. It was pretty funny to see him getting electrocuted over and over again.

But enough of the story. How does it relate to our real life, specifically pertaining to Internet Marketing? Are we guilty of committing the Homer-Act? Do the same thing, fail and repeat the same thing, hoping that it will work the next round?

Now don’t laugh thinking that it will never happen to you. It still happens to me sometimes. No, I’m serious. For example, I know that eating that chocolate waffle will make me gain weight. But I still repeat the same process. Yes, it’s not IM-related, but I’m sure you get the picture.

Whenever we get frustrated on certain things, whether in IM or not, we always need to take a step back and to re-evaluate the situation. Are our methods wrong? Are there better methods? How can I achieve the same results with lesser effort? We must always answer this question.

I’ve seen a lot of people beginning IM or any other areas (me included), doing the same wrong step, expecting to see a different results.

I remember Einstein saying this. Insanity, is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different results.

So now, are you guilty of it?
Do it again, maybe this time it will work… :p

Content, is it really that important

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

There are many challenges faced by internet marketing newbies.
The lack of content, the lack of mentors, the lack of strategies, the lack of techie knowledge.
The list simply just continues off into the horizon.

After teaching so many batches of the Internet Marketing Academy, one common challenge faced would be the lack of content.
Too many a times, even though I bring them to free content places, i.e. Article Directories, public domain areas, they would still cry lack of content.

It’s not anyone’s fault. Take me for instance. My websites that doesn’t use a single of my content, I would not say out loud that it belongs to me, cos there’s really nothing to be proud of. Whereas for my RisingIMStar.com, I can proudly say that this belongs to me and I’ve made several thousands since I launched this site end of last year. :)

You see, even though I may not be a content generator, I didn’t let this be my stumbling block, but instead I acknowledge that I simply cannot generate content on the fly, and therefore I concentrated on getting content from other sources. :) You see, I focus on the outcome, not on the problem! Heehhehe…. POE taught me this! FOCUS ON THE OUTCOME!

In anycase, I know I’ve several IMA participants who do read my blog. So here’s an advise. Whenever there are challenges, and trust me, there will ALWAYS be challenges. Let these challenges be your stepping stone to greater heights! Whooooooosh!

Cheers,
Ming Chern
