Maybe this time it will work…

Monday, November 19th, 2007

I remember a scene from The Simpsons where Homer was stealing cable from the nearby cable post. To cut the long story short, Homer learned the lesson of not stealing and he decided to cut the cables away.

As of all things Homer, he always manage to screw things up and to make a complete arse out of himself. There were 3 cable on the post. 2 live wires and only one is the correct cable. Homer chooses the left most cable which is a live wire. He gets himself electrocuted and suffers immense pain. He rests for 3 seconds and think, hmmm, maybe this time it will work and cut the same cable again. As predicted, he gets electrocuted again.

Not giving up, being the super persistent Homer, he persists on. But over and over again, he picks the same cable hoping that it will work. It was pretty funny to see him getting electrocuted over and over again.

But enough of the story. How does it relate to our real life, specifically pertaining to Internet Marketing? Are we guilty of committing the Homer-Act? Do the same thing, fail and repeat the same thing, hoping that it will work the next round?

Now don’t laugh thinking that it will never happen to you. It still happens to me sometimes. No, I’m serious. For example, I know that eating that chocolate waffle will make me gain weight. But I still repeat the same process. Yes, it’s not IM-related, but I’m sure you get the picture.

Whenever we get frustrated on certain things, whether in IM or not, we always need to take a step back and to re-evaluate the situation. Are our methods wrong? Are there better methods? How can I achieve the same results with lesser effort? We must always answer this question.

I’ve seen a lot of people beginning IM or any other areas (me included), doing the same wrong step, expecting to see a different results.

I remember Einstein saying this. Insanity, is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different results.

So now, are you guilty of it?
Do it again, maybe this time it will work… :p

Content, is it really that important

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

There are many challenges faced by internet marketing newbies.
The lack of content, the lack of mentors, the lack of strategies, the lack of techie knowledge.
The list simply just continues off into the horizon.

After teaching so many batches of the Internet Marketing Academy, one common challenge faced would be the lack of content.
Too many a times, even though I bring them to free content places, i.e. Article Directories, public domain areas, they would still cry lack of content.

It’s not anyone’s fault. Take me for instance. My websites that doesn’t use a single of my content, I would not say out loud that it belongs to me, cos there’s really nothing to be proud of. Whereas for my RisingIMStar.com, I can proudly say that this belongs to me and I’ve made several thousands since I launched this site end of last year. :)

You see, even though I may not be a content generator, I didn’t let this be my stumbling block, but instead I acknowledge that I simply cannot generate content on the fly, and therefore I concentrated on getting content from other sources. :) You see, I focus on the outcome, not on the problem! Heehhehe…. POE taught me this! FOCUS ON THE OUTCOME!

In anycase, I know I’ve several IMA participants who do read my blog. So here’s an advise. Whenever there are challenges, and trust me, there will ALWAYS be challenges. Let these challenges be your stepping stone to greater heights! Whooooooosh!

Success People & Its Formula

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Ever since I started working in AKLTG and being in contact with a lot of successful people from all walks of life.

I’ve seen many people who are making a lot of money from various sources, business, network marketing, affiliate marketing, adsense publishing.
Or even people who are not making money yet, but in my defination, is still a successful person.

All these people bring forth a common feeling that I can really relate to. In a nutshell, it’s their mindset and how they deal with challenges.
It’s extremly prevalent after the recent string of events that fraught my life lately. I will not dwell into what happened, but I can assure you that it didn’t make me very happy and in fact, I even lost a few nights sleep over it.

In anycase, I’ve talked with people who are successful, in my opinion. I’ve chatted with them over the incident and have come to a conclusion.
It’s really their problem. Some times, no matter how much I help them, they will always come back to you with more problems.

Now, enough of the ramblings of the poor-mindset people. They have enough negative energy to pull down Titanic, let alone me, so I shan’t let them get the upper hand of me! :)

So now what’s a good focus? Well, it’s some simple strategies that I wanna share with ya all.
Whenever you face a challenge(NOT problem), think of ways to solve it.
Yup, that’s it!

You may be screaming at me right now on how I am bullsh*tting you, but believe you me!
The poor-mindset people DO NOT do this!
They would curse and swear on how different the problem is, and how they can’t do it.
Really! Observe them and you would believe me! :)

In anycase, I know that for someone who is beginning this, it’s much harder to do it,
as we’re conditioned to focus on the negative energy.
But, ALWAYS ask yourself on HOW you can solve this challenge.
The main difference is that you’ve allowed your brain to think of a positive solution, and not for it to go on a downward spiral. :)

Hope this little rant helps ya a little bit.

P.S. I realised that I’ve been focusing alot on mindset lately… Well, I believe that a strong powerful positive mindset is the most important first-step of success! I’m sure you agree! :D

Blamers Mindset And Why It Could Affect YOU!

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

I received an email from someone that literally made me lose my sleep with anger, frustration and so much more negative feelings.
Yes, I’ve been thru POE Mod 1&2 and even coached POE Mod 1 before,
therefore I should be in better control of my feelings & state.

You see, I’ve always find it challenging to be in control of my emotions, especially when people come & challenge my beliefs and vision.

Many months ago, I’ve conversed with someone who began Internet Marketing at around June 2007. He was passionate and rather successful in his own day job. He came into Internet Marketing as an exploration on what Internet Marketing and how it can generate passive income for him.

I guess this is the same for a lot of people who began Internet Marketing. They started IM and have a distorted idea on what IM is and the strange thing is, no matter what happens, somehow this perspective doesn’t really change. Guess they need more of POE huh?

In anycase, as of all people starting something, the fire & passion & all the drive is there. Things like creating a PDF report can be so exciting, even though it is taking them like 5 hours to learn what PDF is. Nevertheless, it is still heart-warming for me to see them so excited and encouraged. At least they are improving.

But what happens when the novelty wears off? The initial excitement & drive just doesn’t sustain the pain & the steep learning curve anymore.
So what do these people do? They started to blame people. They blame people for the massive load of things to learn, blame people for the lack of resources, blame people for the lack of clarity.

Wow, this irks & surprises me many times. My life mentor, Jacklyn Ker has got to be the role model of soooo many people beginning Internet Marketing or ANYTHING, for that matter. Though she’s fraught with all the technical challenges, she didn’t give up. Instead, it was fuel for her to perserve on to clarify anything that she didn’t understand. So what happened in the end, she conquered her challenges and now, she can even coach IM people from a technical perspective. Isn’t this incredible what a little determination can do?

Coming back to losers in life and fast forwarding to now. Not long ago, I just received an email from this person at about 1am, detailing on why things could have been and should have been. The funny thing was how Law Of Attraction came into place. He seemed to attract all the people who didn’t make it in IM or began on a wrong foot in IM. He compiled a list of things on why IM wasn’t that fantastic, etc, etc…

From my observation throughout the months of emails and other modes of communication, I’ve always noticed how he treated confusion. At the first sight of confusion, his mind shut off and he would go off to sleep. This was surprising as he wasn’t employed, but runs his own thing earning his own keep. So I would naturally assume people who goes the entreprenueral route would be more empowered to take on challenges. Yes, he would sometimes tackle the lesser of all evils, but that’s about it.

In these eight months of working for Stuart and gone through so many Internet Marketing Academy, I’m beginning to learn that I should give my best to all the participants, but the rest is really up to them. We can only show them the door, but it is really for them to walk through it themselves.

I began this post with a troubled mind. Troubled and vexed in search of a solution, an answer to stop all these nonsense. But I realized that it isn’t possible. That’s the reason why only 5% of the population wins the race and the top 1% of the population gains super success. It is not my fault and it is not my mission to whip them into shape.

I can only support what I do best. Technical support! And I shall be the number one Internet Marketing Techincal Coach in the world! :)
Stay close to my mission and my passion & I shall touch the life and hearts of more people to come.

Speaking of touching hearts, please be reminded that Stuart is also rolling out something that I believe is of incredible value. He’s running the Charity Telethon to raise a few hundred thousand dollars to fulfil the dreams of kids who’s life is about to end.

Please support these children in whatever ways you can. In this case, it’s only your name & email and a couple of dollars later to show that you care and to prove that there is still love in this world.
Go down to www.supertelethon.org for more details!

Cheers!

Pursuit Of Happyness And How It Applies To Your Online Success

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

I was watching The Pursuit Of Happyness by Will Smith the other day with my better half.

It was a really awesome show with alot of real life application.

The entire movie talked about this salesman of some ‘machine’ in which he couldn’t sell at all…
In all, it talks about his quest of conquering hardship.

In the whole 2 hours, I was brought on an emotional roller coaster. From him going deep down to the pits of hell of hardship,
climbing a little higher, then plunged even deeper in a cess pool of debts, etc..

There was one scene where all he had left was $23. Mind you, he had a son to take care of.
Darn, there are so many things to talk about this show.

To summarize, I saw a man’s fight to give his family a better life, conquering countless times of hardship in order to achieve the best for his family, namely, his son. (His wife left halfway because of the extreme hardship)

One thing he didn’t go was to give up. There isn’t any consideration at all. Putting this to real life and into Internet Marketing.
Yes, we may be frought with so many setbacks, so many times that we didn’t understand what is going on.
But as long as we continue to fight for what we believe, continue to look for resources, we would eventually succeed one day.

I’ve met with alot of people during previews where they ask me on whether can make money or not.
I always reply: DEFINATELY! I’m doing it!

Though I always add, but that’s me… It still depends on you, on whether is it a ‘must’ for you.
Think of it this way, if it’s absolutely necessary for you to cough up $100,000 to save the life of your loved ones,
somehow one way or another, you’ll be able to come up with the money.

So you see, it’s really up to you.
You have the choice to grumble and complain of not having enough money, not enough people, don’t know enough, not enough time.
Seriously, if you have time to grumble and bitch about the problem.
You have time to start your own IM business… :)

Cheers,
Ming
